Troy Goodman – Director

Troy's value-added counsel centers on messaging strategy and helping company leaders and employees communicate with target audiences using precision and professionalism. Troy's expertise includes fact-based reporting, media relations, marketing, copywriting, and internal and external corporate communications. He is recognized for his keen understanding of what constitutes a good story to writers, editors, and producers.

Prior to joining Markstein Consulting, Troy was the director of public relations at the Wilbanks Agency, where he led the creation of messaging and public relations campaigns that earned his clients repeated news coverage in all media formats: print, broadcast, and online. Troy expanded the firm's capacity for communication planning, creative development, and targeted media relations for large and small corporations.

Before the Wilbanks Agency, Troy worked in the media relations department of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he served numerous world-renowned UAB research centers, several top-ranked physician groups, and three of UAB's professional schools. He came to UAB after a successful career in journalism; he previously worked at The Birmingham News, the American Cancer Society, the Associated Press (AP), CNN Interactive, and other media outlets.

Troy earned his Master's degree in Science and Medical Journalism from New York University and graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism.
